10th International Geoid School "The Determination and Use of the Geoid"
We invite you and your colleagues to take part in the work of the 10th International Geoid School "The Determination and Use of the Geoid", which will be held on 28 June - 3 July 2010 at the State Research Center of the Russian Federation - Сoncern CSRI Elektropribor, JSC (Saint Petersburg, Russia).
The School is organized by:

The School language is English.
The School program includes the lectures presented in English by the known scientists in geodesy:
- «Introduction to Physical Geodesy» - Prof. R.Barzaghi (Italy, DIIAR-Sec.Surveying Politecnico di Milano)
- «Global Models» - Prof. N.Pavlis (USA, NGA, Geodesy and Geophysics Basic and Applied Research)
- «Collocation» - Prof. I.Tziavos (Greece, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Department of Geodesy and Surveying)
- «Terrain Correction» - Prof. R.Forsberg (Denmark, DTU Space, National Space Institute, Technical University of Denmark, President of the International Gravity Field Service)
- «Fourier Methods» - Prof. M.Sideris (Canada, Department of Geomatics Engineering, Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, President of the International Association of Geodesy)
- «Marine Gravity» - Prof. O.Andersen (Denmark, DTU Space, National Space Institute, Technical University of Denmark)
The School participants are provided with lecture abstracts, the ÑD with the geoid computation software from the International Geoid Service, and data for the exercises.
After the lectures are over, each participant receives a CD-ROM with updated lectures.

The Symposium was headed by the International Program Committee consisting of the leading specialists from Bureau International des Poids et Mesures, from Argentina, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Russia, and USA.
The Symposium languages were English and Russian.
Simultaneous translation was provided from English into Russian and from Russian into English.
The Symposium was attended by 207 specialists from 37 foreign companies and 22 Russian organizations coming from 20 countries: Austria, Belgium, China, Czechia, Finland, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Luxembourg, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, and USA.
The Symposium slogan read: Measuring gravity, measuring the Earth.
Symposium sessions included
- Terrestrial, shipboard and airborne gravimetry,
- Absolute gravimetry,
- Relative gravimetry, gravity networks and applications of gravimetry,
- Atom interferometric gravimetry and gravitational experiments.
The authors of the poster papers at the plenary session presented the main idea of the paper with 1 or 2 slides within 3 min, further discussion continued at the posters.
All speakers have received the Certificate of Attendance.

On the last Symposium day, June 25, 2010, the cultural program including the city tour and visit to the Peter-and-Paul fortress and the Savior on the Spilt Blood Cathedral was offered to the participants.
The Symposium was held at high scientific and organizational level and was highly estimated by the attendees.
By the beginning of Symposium a book of abstracts, "IAG Symposium on Terrestrial Gravimetry: Static and Mobile Measurements, 22-25 June 2010, Saint Petersburg, Russia" (ISBN 978-5-900780-89-4) was published.
The texts of all presented plenary and poster papers will be published in Symposium Proceedings to be issued in the fourth quarter of 2010 (only in English) and sent to all participants.

To the attention of authors (speakers) of plenary and poster papers at the Symposium TG-SMM 2010:
You are requested to e-mail the Symposium Working Group (tgsmm2010@eprib.ru) illustrations for your paper presentation prepared in accordance with the instructions for preparation of plenary and poster papers available on the website before 10 June 2010.
If you plan to bring the illustrative material (computer presentation or transparent slides) for your paper presentation with you, you need to talk over without fail with Mr. Tok who is responsible for the technique, in the Conference Room just after the speaker passes through the Symposium registration.
Posters of poster papers brought by you should be forwarded to the Symposium Working Group for placing them on the stands.

You are requested to e-mail us (with Subject line TG-SMM2010) illustrations for your paper presentation (slides) and posters prepared in accordance with the instructions available on the Symposium website, as well as your completed form Information about the speaker (in English), at the address : tgsmm2010@eprib.ru not later than 10 June 2010.
Please write the title of the paper and the names of the authors in the covering message. You will be informed as soon as we receive and print out your poster(s). Authors of the poster papers may bring the posters with them. Please let us know without fail if you do so.
The posters should be handed over to the attendant in the Symposium Room before the beginning of the morning sessions for placing them on the stand.
If you wish to bring the illustrative material for your paper presentation with you please talk over with Mr. Victor Tok who is responsible for the Symposium technique, in the Symposium Room some time before the morning session begins.
