The log is used onboard ships with dynamic buoyancy.
It is designed to:
- measure speed through the water, its longitudinal and transverse components with respect to the underlying surface (sea, ground);
- determine the current drift angle;
- generate the course over ground by heading indicator data;
- measure the covered distance;
- measure separate segments of the covered distance;
- display and transmit the generated parameters.
Multifunctional indicators provide the required data availability for navigating the ship.
The drift log interfacing with the ship control system enables a steady heading or course over ground to be automatically steered.
